How do I get a PDF without signing up?

Open /create, fill in the form, and press Download PDF. The file is rendered in your browser as you type, so the download is effectively instant. No email, no account, no watermark.

Is the preview the real document?

Yes. The preview is an actual PDF produced by the same component and the same fonts as the download, displayed in an iframe. That includes page breaks and pagination, so a long invoice previews exactly as it prints.

Will I lose my work if I close the tab?

Accepted Answer

No. The builder autosaves your current invoice to your own browser storage and restores it when you come back. It never leaves your device unless you create a share link.

Why is my download button enabled when there are errors?

Accepted Answer

Because it is your invoice. We flag missing required fields prominently — and for India GST we are strict about Rule 46 particulars — but we will not stop you producing a document. A blocked download is more annoying than an imperfect draft.

The preview says “rendered in 27ms” — what does that mean?

How long the last PDF render took, and whether it ran on a background worker thread or the main thread. It is there so you can see that rendering is not competing with your typing.

What does the format selector change?

Which additional fields exist and how tax is computed. India GST adds GSTIN, HSN/SAC, place of supply and the CGST/SGST versus IGST split. US adds state and local sales tax with per-line exemptions. EU VAT adds both VAT numbers and reverse charge. Export adds shipping bill, port code, FX rate and LUT declarations.

If I switch format, do I lose what I typed?

No. Switching merges rather than resets — your parties, line items and notes survive, and format-specific data is kept in case you switch back.

How is the GST split decided?

By comparing your state with the place of supply. Same state gives CGST plus SGST at half your rate each; different state gives IGST at the full rate; a union territory without a legislature gives UTGST instead of SGST. You never choose it manually.

Why does reverse charge reduce my invoice total?

Accepted Answer

Under reverse charge the recipient pays the tax directly to the government, so you do not collect it. Invoicr computes and displays the tax, marks it as payable by the recipient, excludes it from your total, and prints the statutory declaration.

Can I set one tax rate on every line at once?

Yes — “Same tax rate everywhere” under the line items table. Useful when all your services fall in the same slab.

How are discounts taxed?

Line discounts reduce that line before tax. An invoice-wide discount is allocated across lines pro-rata, so each line’s tax stays correct and the components still sum to the total. The last non-zero line absorbs any rounding remainder.

Which templates are free?

Ledger, Atelier and Blueprint. They are complete documents — no watermark, no page limit, no locked fields — and logo, accent colour, paper size and density all work on them.

What do premium templates actually add?

A different layout, solving a different problem: a loud header band for collections, a sidebar for field-heavy GST invoices, a letterhead for professional practices, a dense grid for long product invoices. Plus the extra type pairings.

Can I buy one template without subscribing?

Yes, as a one-time purchase between $9 and $15. It stays yours, applies to invoices you have already made, and includes every colourway.

My logo will not upload.

Keep it under 400 KB. The limit exists so draft links stay small enough to be portable — a 400px-wide PNG is more than enough resolution for print.

How does “Save for later” work without an account?

It stores the invoice against a random token and gives you two links: a share link that is read-only, and an edit link that can overwrite the draft. Keep the edit link private. Drafts last 90 days and the clock resets each time you save.

Someone sent me a draft link — can I change it?

Accepted Answer

You can edit and download freely, but saving creates your own new link rather than modifying theirs. Only the holder of the edit link can overwrite the original.

What can I export?

CSV for spreadsheets and accountants, and JSON that re-imports into the builder without loss. Both are available on every tier including anonymous. GST invoices additionally export an IRP-compatible e-invoice JSON.

Is the e-invoice export the same as filing?

Accepted Answer

No. It produces the payload the Invoice Registration Portal expects, which you or your GSP upload to obtain the IRN and signed QR code. Invoicr does not talk to the IRP for you.

Why would I create an account?

For the things that need memory: saved clients, invoice history with status, saved template styles. Pro adds reminders, team seats, live FX, Pay Now buttons and the API.

There is no password field.

Correct — sign-in is by magic link. Nothing to leak, reset or store, and it fits a product most people reach after already making an invoice anonymously.

Do you take a cut of the payments I collect?

No. Pay Now uses your own Stripe or Razorpay account. The money goes straight to you and the only fees are theirs.

Why Razorpay for rupees?

Indian card and UPI acceptance is far more practical through Razorpay for most small businesses. Invoices in INR route there automatically; everything else goes to Stripe.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked. You keep your history and your exports. You lose premium templates you have not bought individually, plus reminders, seats and API access.
